Terms of Service

Plain terms for a practice tool. Last updated September 3, 2026. If we change them, the current version will always be at this address.

1. What LossHQ is

LossHQ is practice software for certified insurance appraisers and umpires. It keeps your case files, deadlines, documents, credentials, and correspondence organized. It is not a law firm, it does not give legal advice, and it is not a party to any appraisal. The appraising, the judgments, and the signatures are yours; LossHQ handles the work around them.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 and give accurate information. Keep your login private; you are responsible for activity under your account. Credentials and experience you list on your profile are supplied by you and published under your name. You are responsible for their accuracy and for keeping them current.

3. Your data, and our role

All case records, correspondence, documents, and other content you or your correspondents submit to LossHQ (“Customer Data”) remain your property. LossHQ claims no ownership of it. LossHQ stores and processes Customer Data solely to provide the service, at your direction. As between you and LossHQ, you control Customer Data and LossHQ processes it for you. You are responsible for the lawfulness of what you place in the service and for your own record-keeping obligations.

4. Records and legal requests

Case communications sent or received through LossHQ are kept as part of the case record, with who they went to and when. That is the purpose of the feature. If LossHQ receives a subpoena, court order, or other legal demand for your Customer Data: we will notify you promptly and before producing anything, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so or there is a risk of serious harm; you will have a reasonable opportunity to object or narrow the demand at your own expense, and we will not oppose a timely, good-faith objection; because the records are yours, we may direct the requesting party to you as the appropriate custodian; and if we must produce, we will produce the narrowest set of records that is compelled and nothing more. You agree to reimburse our reasonable costs of responding, except where the demand arises from LossHQ’s own conduct.

5. Export, deletion, and legal hold

You can export a complete case record at any time. You can ask us to delete your account data; we will do so within a reasonable time unless we are required to keep it. If a case is subject to litigation, a subpoena, or a preservation obligation, tell us and we will place it on legal hold and not delete it until the hold is lifted. You are responsible for telling us when a hold applies and when it may end.

6. What LossHQ does not do

LossHQ does not generate, store, or provide characterizations, ratings, or assessments of any appraiser, umpire, adjuster, or other person. Factual information about participants is limited to what that person supplied or what appears in the case record. Where LossHQ offers drafting assistance, drafts are proposals for your review; nothing is sent without your action. LossHQ does not track or display outcome statistics of any kind.

7. Billing

Paid plans are billed by subscription through Stripe at the price shown when you subscribe. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. We may change prices with notice before your next renewal.

8. Acceptable use

Use LossHQ lawfully and only for your own professional practice. Do not use it to harass anyone, to submit content you have no right to submit, or to interfere with the service or other users. The public directory and its API may be used to find and contact professionals; bulk harvesting of listings is not permitted.

9. Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided as is. We work to keep it available and accurate but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. LossHQ is not responsible for the outcome of any appraisal, award, or dispute, and nothing in the service is legal advice. To the fullest extent the law allows, LossHQ’s total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the version at this address is the one in effect, with the date above. Questions about these terms or your data: support@losshq.com. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
